Riches And The Garden Of Eden

Starting with the disclaimer that this is a purely secular set of observations having nothing to do with religion, I would like to bypass all the theological controversy and bigoted opinions of those who should know better with the assertion that something actually ‘did go wrong’ within the human psyche, and this schism, which undeniably destroyed a pre-existing harmonious and joyous relationship with nature, happened precisely with the concurrence of agriculture.

And it is agriculture I would like to focus the blame on, for if money is the root of all evil, then agriculture is the root of all money. It is true, is it not, that agriculture is the harbinger of civilization? Therefore, whatever civilization has bequeathed to us ultimately can be found in the implementation of agriculture. That is to say that literally- language, the mastery of fire, tool making, just to name a few technologies- have only a small role in the development and rise of civilization. On the other hand, civilization would be impossible without agriculture. (By the way, ‘civilization’ by its root roughly just means ‘urbanization’.)

When heard, the word civilization is generally received with a positive connotation, but in fact civilization is also directly responsible for the greatest man-made horrors upon this earth that we have ever seen. It is responsible for mega wars, genocide, and perhaps most tragically, thousands of years of mass slavery.

Another facet that one might explore about agriculture is that while it tends to feed masses of humans with a monotonous diet of food of dubious nutritious value, at the same time it destroys nature (or the garden if one prefers). But most importantly the advent of agriculture soon resulted in societies where 80 to 90 percent of the population became slaves, 10 percent warriors, a tiny percent scholars and architects, and the tiniest fraction the owners and rulers. That it is a fact of history but my question is: have things really changed?

Translation A Science As Well As An Art

Translation is both a science as well as an art. Translation companies providing translation services, having understood this fact, approach the translation work with a high degree of precision while employing the art of accommodation and adaptability to the process popularly called Localization.

How is Translation a Science?
Translation is a complete science in itself as it employs certain standards and norms related to the source and target language for effective and appropriate results. Thorough knowledge of the source and target language and their successful interpretation in translation requires a scientific aptitude towards the translation work drawing upon the vocabulary and grammar of the source and target languages for effective and accurate translation. Besides, the accuracy of the translated content is scientifically judged against certain pre defined parameters related to the source and target languages.

How is Translation an Art?
Translation as an art has a lot to do with adaptability and accommodation to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of the translated content. Translation has to necessarily adapt in order to accommodate cultural, social, political, aesthetical and many other factors related to the target language. The necessity for this adaptability arises particularly because of vast linguistic differences around the world with different social and cultural norms. This is also necessary to maintain the source messages essence, impact and effect. Hence it calls upon the translator to artfully translate the content while making adaptations wherever necessary. This is a complete art in itself where the translator is required to ride on back of his presence of mind, knowledge and intelligence. Hence it can be subjective to an extent as the level of expertise may vary from translator to translator. It is safe to say that translation as an art is only as good as its translator.

Translation companies providing translation services employ a precise blend of science and art in their translation work for best results. One such company specializing in Translation services is Crystal Hues Limited. Crystal Hues is an ISO 9001:2008 organization that has been providing Translation services combined with Localization and Advertising services for over 20 years. Crystal Hues provides top of the line Translation as well as Localization services in more than 70 languages around the world. What is the best transportation for travelling

Choosing the perfect transport is as important as is the choice for resort for your vacation. Therefore, I am ready to give the all-possible options for traveling including their advantages and drawbacks. You can decide whether to take under consideration or not my opinion about each one of them, but the most important thing is to feel the most comfortable with the transport, which you will pick out. We know that we need to have our documentations like IDs, Visas, tickets and chosen transports in advance. In order to help you at least for one of these important needs for a trip, I will explore the one, which I would take if I was on the way to go on a vacation.

Therefore, I want to introduce the one that is the most proper in my opinion, the Bus. This is one means, which is proper not only in the city and between cities in your country but also for international destinations. Traveling by bus will satisfy every type of people and their capricious desires. At first glance, it seems that by it, you won’t be a part of excellent service, but despite this, you will have access to better staff. For example, you will make new friendships with people all over the world. From that standpoint, everyone will perceive one extended experience by learning facts and aspects about different cultures and traditions. Therefore, you will have supplementary knowledge as well. Moreover, in the bus you will have the perfect chances to see all possible sights and landmarks during the travelling. Even though the seats can be little narrow for some, they won’t be supposed to be behind the wheel which is one great benefit of the bus. What is more, the price is most affordable exactly with this kind of transportation, so even with little set off budget you can save money from the travelling and still have a lot for fun and relaxing when you reach the final destination. Nonetheless, there are negatives related with the dependence on the other passengers. What I mean is that if the number for a trip is not full in most of the case the trip is postponed or even called off. The screams and crying of children and babies also can be a problem for some who are able to be annoyed by it. However, we need to consider the fact that travelling by bus will provide quite bigger quantity of benefits than disadvantages. Precisely for that reason, I think this is the perfect vehicle for any kind of a journey: short, distant and so on.

There are other transportations like planes, trains, cars, ships and others, but the bus should be your choice.

Fashion & Art a Potent Potion!

By Beverly Pereira Photography: Courtesy Tarun Tahiliani & The Singh Twins

Tarun Tahiliani’s Spring Summer 15 collection showcased at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2015 features motifs, imagery and colours inspired by the celebrated art of the British-Indian Singh Twins…

Fashion and Art are not exactly strange bedfellows. Think Andy Warhol’s portrait of Yves Saint Lauren or Warhol’s iconic flowers that played muse to Prada’s Spring 2013 collection. More recently and closer to home, Tarun Tahiliani has collaborated with the internationally acclaimed Singh Twins, whose works of art play muse to his Lakme Fashion Week Spring Summer -15 collection.

The London-born, Liverpool-based Singh Twins, Amrit and Rabindra, describe their work as -past modern’ as opposed to Post Modern, portraying their Indian and British identities through the application of eastern and western aesthetics. Using motifs that represent British Asian life, cityscapes and pop culture, their work is tinged with the personal and the political and can be viewed as a social commentary with tongue-in-cheek humour.

Hugely inspired by this melange, the designer launched a ready-to-wear fashion line at the Wills India Fashion 2014 in Delhi as an ode to the Singh Twins’ art. He has now crafted garments for the Mumbai Lakme Fashion Week that bring to life the Twins’ well-received Indian miniature paintings, detailed black and white drawings and digital mixed medium art that explores an exclusive relationship with their home city of Liverpool.

Tarun, himself, is known to skilfully blend the modern and the traditional and augmenting this with the Twins’ affinity for reviving the age-old technique of miniature painting and the juxtaposition of modern iconography has led to a range of digitally printed separates – kaftans, jewel tees, dhoti skirts, lungi skirts, leggings and dresses etc. Some colour palettes and elements have been creatively reworked by the designer to harmonise with the collection. The twins’ Wheel of Fortune has been incorporated as a whole on to a Tahiliani kurta, while decorative motifs from their black and white Aquarius have been reassembled and colourised within the design of another outfit. Silk kaftans, much like a vast canvas, allow the twins’ paintings to come through beautifully. Saris are rife with colours, featuring borders that carry Persian motifs borrowed from their paintings.

His menswear also features text vignettes, stylised clouds and waves, borders and decorative motifs from several of the twins’ works, offering fashion lovers an artistic take-away, proving yet again that the art and fashion are strong counter-influencers! click here to view images from the collection on indiaartndesign.com
