Ben Spies Pessimistic Can Go Faster

BOLOGNA – Ben Spies said that he would come back down to race with Pramac Ducati at Indianapolis MotoGP series on 16-18 August, Spies admitted that his condition was in good condition.

Spies has indeed been absent long enough after a severe shoulder injury since the accident at the Malaysian MotoGP series 2012. Spies who had been absent for seven series this season admitted injury had recovered.

“For the first time in months, I felt very happy because my shoulder in a very good condition. Decision is best right back in the moment. Doctors say that my recovery goes according to plan, so I wanted to get back at Indy with conditions 100 percent, “he said.

Spies who resigned from the Yamaha Factory Racing at the end of last year, not sure I can achieve good results in his debut later. The reason, he has gone through a lot of races this season.

“I missed so many races, and I do not ever be 100 percent. Now I am more confident about my recovery. However I am not sure I can directly go fast, since I had not been driving,” he said as reported by MCN.

About his future, Spies admits she still has a contract until 2014 with the Ducati satellite team. He also just want to focus and not think about the race will move to gossip today.

“There are so many rumors about what I would do in the future, but I just laugh to read it all on the internet. Obviously, I was ready to back away,” he concluded.

Touted Rossi, Marquez: My Face Blushing

CALIFORNIA – The Honda rider, Marc Marquez, claimed to be flattered by the praise given Valentino Rossi. Moreover, the Yamaha rider was the hero for Marquez.

As reported earlier, Rossi gave kudos to the rookie after victory on MotoGP series United States, last week. Where Marquez was recorded as the first rookie to win at Laguna Seca.

Rossi is MotoGP world champion seven times the judge that Marquez could be the greatest driver of all time. He also considered the successor to Casey Stoner could continue with glorious achievements, especially its youth.

“It’s hard to hear exactly what Valentino (Rossi) because my face gets flushed! Valentino is one of my heroes, one of the most important figures in MotoGP – in motor racing,” said Marquez as reported by Crash.

“When you listen to the words it was quite impressive, but the track conditions are very different. You have to give 100 percent, though still impressive to hear anything about it,” said the 20-year-old drivers.

Until the ninth series, the Spaniard won three times and only once failed to win on the podium. The achievement makes Marquez at the top of the MotoGP standings with 163 achievement points.

Rio Finishes 18th in Feature Race

Nuerburg – Rio Haryanto was unable to get a satisfactory result in the first race of the GP2 German. Indonesian young rider was only finished in 18th position in the feature race.

In all the 32 lap race at the Nuerburgring circuit on Saturday (07/06/2013), Rio start in 20th position. He succeeded in crossing the finish line in 1 hour and 1 minute 0.306 seconds and ranks 18th.

This is the winner of the first race DAMS driver, Marcus Ericsson. Ericsson, who started from second position, finishing in 1 hour 16.988 seconds.

Rio still has a chance to earn points in Germany. He will follow the sprint race on Sunday (07/07/2013) tomorrow.

In the rider standings, Rio now ranks 18th with 20 collection points. Top position is occupied by Rapax driver, Stefano Coletti, with 135 points.

Romain Grosjean Staring Positive Hungarian GP

Lotus rider, Romain Grosjean, he headed Hungarian Grand Prix next week, with a positive feeling.
Formula 1 car racer the French failed to score points in Spain, Monaco, Canada, and the UK, but later he was able to climb the podium in Germany.
Currently he is sure to keep the momentum victory while competing in Budapest, Hungary, which will be the 10th in the series championship this season.
“The third position in Germany is a good result, so of course now I have a positive feeling that deal with race in Hungary. We live a great race at the Nuerburgring (Germany),” he said.
Last season, Grosjean finished third in Hungary and wanted to repeat the success.
“I like the circuit and one of the best experiences I have had. I scored pole position for the first time in the circuit while competing in GP2 in 2008, then finished first and third. In 2012 I was on the podium in F1,” he said.
To win the race in Hungary which has a narrow track and a lot of corners, Grosjean said, he should be able merasih kualifiasi fastest time in half.
“We showed last year when we could be in the first line and would be awesome if it was vacant again this year.

Susie Wolff set for full Formula 1 test for Williams

Susie Wolff will have her first full Formula 1 test at the wheel of a Williams in this week’s ‘young-driver’ test at Silverstone.

The Scot will drive on Friday, with race driver Pastor Maldonado in action on Thursday, while Spaniard Daniel Juncadella is set to test on Wednesday.

Teams are being allowed to run race drivers for one day at the test on 17-19 July to evaluate new tyres.

Wolff, 30, is currently the development driver for Williams.

She raced in the DTM German touring car championship for seven years before quitting the series to concentrate on her work with the British outfit.

It is not the first time Wolff has driven an F1 car – she had a familiarisation test with Williams last October and was the first to drive the team’s 2013 car this year at an aerodynamic test in February, and described the Silverstone test as “a fantastic opportunity”.

Wolff added: “It’s going to be a big challenge but the most important thing is to do a solid and consistent job and to give good feedback to the team to be able to prove I am at the level to compete on a day such as this.

“Most of my work is based in the simulator which is why this day is so important for me.

“It will give me a better understanding of what the car is like on track and how that correlates to the simulator which will also help further develop the work I can do there.

“I am not naive enough to think it will be easy. I know it’s going to be tough and a big challenge but the team have prepared me well and I just need to believe in myself. I will go out there and do the best I can.”

The last woman to enter the F1 world championship was Italian Giovanna Amati, who failed to qualify for three races with Brabham in 1992 before being dropped. The last woman to race an F1 car was Italian Lella Lombardi in 1976.

Only two other teams have so far confirmed their line-ups.

Lotus will use Kimi Raikkonen on the final day of the test with Frenchman Nicolas Prost – the son of four-time world champion Alain Prost – driving on Wednesday and reserve driver Davide Valsecchi on Thursday.

McLaren and Red Bull have chosen not to use their race drivers.

Reserve driver Gary Paffett (Friday) and young drivers Kevin Magnussen and Oliver Turvey will test the McLaren.

Portuguese Antonio Felix Da Costa, a contender for a Toro Rosso seat in 2014, will take the first two days for Red Bull, with Spain’s Carlos Sainz coming in on Friday.

Sauber will use Nico Hulkenberg on Thursday, and split the rest of its programme between reserve driver Robin Frijns and Japanese former Formula 3 driver Kimiya Sato.

The ‘young-driver’ test is an attempt to allow teams to try out drivers who have not yet raced in F1 – the rules dictate that those taking part must have competed in no more than two grands prix.

But this stipulation was waived following the problems at the British Grand Prix to allow Pirelli to try out its new tyre design on the track that had caused the most problems.

A series of problems all contributed to six drivers suffering blowouts during the race.

Although Pirelli said the manner in which the teams were operating the tyres was partially to blame, the biggest single cause is believed to have been a weakness in the construction of the 2013 tyre at the shoulder, where the sidewall meets the tread.

Pirelli has decided to revert to the construction used in 2012,which has a stronger shoulder, from the Hungarian Grand Prix, but combined with the softer rubber compounds used so far in 2013.

As there were no similar problems last year, none are expected with the new design, but the Silverstone test gives Pirelli a chance to make sure before the teams reach the races at Spa in Belgium and Suzuka in Japan, which make even more extreme demands of the tyres.

Mercedes will not feature at the test because of their ban for taking part in the controversial Pirelli tyre test.

Austin Dillon wins at Eldora in first NASCAR dirt race in 43 years

The Camping World Truck Series’ debut on dirt went from novelty to mainstay in the span of three hours Wednesday night at Eldora Speedway, as Austin Dillon scored the first NASCAR national series win on a dirt track in 43 years.

If you watched and weren’t entertained, I don’t know what to tell you.

“This is real racing right here, this is all I’ve got to say,” Dillon said in victory lane after beating Kyle Larson to the finish line in a green-white-checker sprint.

The thing is, that wasn’t just the joy in Dillon coming out after he reached victory lane. The excitement of being at Tony Stewart’s track was palpable and authentic. Drivers and team members exclaimed throughout the evening about the race, and heck, not even a discouraging word was said by the NASCAR social media chamber, a notoriously finicky segment.

A big reason for that excitement? The racing.

Yes, it was different. But it wasn’t just the difference in styles in how a driver attacks a half-mile dirt track versus a 1.5 mile asphalt track that made Wednesday night mesmerizing. It was multiple grooves, the throttle management and a genuine sense that the race was ultimately going to be decided by the drivers and their trucks, not by clean air. (Which can be a bit of an oxymoron at a dirt track anyway.) Throw in a big helping of nostalgia — many NASCAR drivers grew up racing local dirt tracks — and it’s hard not to consider the night a rousing success.

Need proof of how that all came together? Look no further than the battle between Norm Benningand Clay Greenfield in the Last Chance Qualifier race to get into the 150 lap main event. Instead of relying only on single truck qualifying to set the field for the race, NASCAR used heat races and a subsequent last-chance race to whittle the 35 trucks attempting the race to the 30 trucks that would start the race.

With two laps left in the Last Chance race, Benning was holding onto the final transfer spot into the main race in fifth place. Greenfield was right behind him, both drivers in trucks they own and prepare themselves, a far cry from the multi-million dollar operations in the Sprint Cup Series.

Greenfield leaned on Benning’s bumper as the two approached the white flag. Benning got loose, but stayed in the throttle and held the position. As they came through turns three and four again,Greenfield got to the inside of Benning and slid up into him, forcing Benning’s truck into the wall. Sparks flew, but Benning stayed in the gas once again, nipping Greenfield at the line for that last place starting position.

And when Benning got back to the garage? Members from seemingly every team were waiting for him to get out of his truck to congratulate him.

Did NASCAR take a gamble by staging a type of race not run for nearly half a century at an 18,000 seat facility owned by a Sprint Cup Series champion? Probably. Did it pay off? Absolutely. Instead of the question being “Does the Truck Series return next year?” it’s now “When can the Nationwide and Cup Series do this?”

Lorenzo out of German MotoGP, needs more surgery

MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo has withdrawn from Sunday’s German grand prix and needs another operation on his left shoulder after he crashed in practice at the Sachsenring on Friday.

 The Spanish Yamaha rider, who is second in this year’s standings behind compatriot Dani Pedrosa of Honda after seven of 18 races, was running quickest in the afternoon session but lost control at turn 10 and landed heavily on his left shoulder.

 “The Mallorcan was taken to the Clinica Mobile, where examinations indicated that the eight screws in his shoulder were in tact but that the titanium plate itself had been bent by the impact,” organisers said on the MotoGP website (

 The 26-year-old had the screws and plate inserted two weeks ago after sustaining a broken collarbone in practice for the Assen grand prix and despite the injury flew back to Netherlands after surgeryin Barcelona and finished fifth.

After the setback in Germany, he now faces a race to be fit in time for the U.S. grand prix at Laguna Seca next weekend.

“I have decided to go home and recover after today’s crash at Sachsenring,” Lorenzo said on the Yamaha Factory Racing website (

“I prefer to focus on surgery to fix the plate that was unfortunately bent during the crash. I will try to recover and be back as soon as possible.”
